Why do beverage plants use RO instead of just filtration?

Filtration removes particles and some organics but leaves the dissolved mineral content untouched, and it is that mineral content which drives taste and product consistency. Because a municipal or well supply changes composition through the year, a filtered-only plant makes a product that changes with it. Reverse osmosis strips the water back to a consistent low-mineral baseline so the plant can blend or remineralize to exactly the same specification every batch, regardless of season.

What water quality does CIP final rinse need?

Softened at minimum, RO water where the surface finish matters. Hardness in the final rinse dries as visible scale on product-contact surfaces, which fails visual inspection and gradually builds a deposit that harbours bacteria. Soft or RO rinse water also cuts detergent consumption, because a significant part of the chemical load in a hard-water plant is simply dealing with the hardness rather than cleaning.

Do you supply double-pass RO for ultra-pure water?

Yes. A second RO pass, usually with pH elevation between passes to improve rejection of weakly ionised species, produces very low conductivity product water for high-purity duties. Where the specification goes beyond what double-pass RO alone achieves, electrodeionization is added as a polishing step. The right configuration depends on the target conductivity and on which specific ions the specification limits.

How do you prevent biofilm in a treated water loop?

Keep the water moving and give bacteria nowhere to settle. That means continuous recirculation rather than a dead-ended storage tank, piping designed without dead legs and fully drainable, sanitary fittings throughout, and UV or ozone on the loop as a continuous barrier. Add a scheduled chemical or hot-water sanitisation cycle, and monitor so a rising trend is caught before it becomes a failed result.
