Energy Recovery Devices

HPB Hydraulic Pressure Booster Turbocharger

Single-shaft hydraulic ERD. Flow range 10–3,460 m³/h. Up to 83 bar standard, or 124 bar HPB Ultra. Transfer efficiency scales with frame size, with the largest frames exceeding 83%.

HP-HEMI Motorized Turbocharger

Motor-assisted HPB with integral VFD-driven motor for precise pressure control and improved efficiency in variable-load applications.

HPB Model Selection Matrix

Sixteen HPB frames cover feed flows from 3 to 3,460 m³/h. The model number is the nominal feed flow in m³/h, and best efficiency is achieved within roughly ±20% of nominal. All frames share a maximum operating pressure of 83 bar (1,200 psi), a 20-micron filtration requirement, non-metallic product-lubricated bearings and grooved-style pipe connections; flanged connections are optional.

Sizing note: start from brine flow and brine pressure — the turbine end generates the power — then confirm the feed flow falls within the frame’s range. The HPB replaces the system brine control valve through its integral variable-area needle valve, but a VFD or feed throttle valve is still required to set feed flow. Above 50% system recovery, or above 83 bar, contact us: the HPB Ultra is rated to 124 bar. Every unit is custom-engineered to the duty point and ships with a certified performance datasheet.

HPB Ultra Model Selection Matrix

Eight HPB Ultra frames cover feed flows from 3 to 208 m³/h. The model number is the nominal feed flow in m³/h, and best efficiency is achieved within roughly ±20% of nominal. All frames share a maximum operating pressure of 124 bar (1,800 psi), a 20-micron filtration requirement, non-metallic product-lubricated bearings and grooved-style pipe connections; flanged connections are optional.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does FEDCO manufacture?

FEDCO builds energy recovery turbochargers (such as the HPB series), high-pressure booster pumps, and energy recovery turbines used in large-scale seawater desalination plants.

How does FEDCO energy recovery reduce desalination cost?

FEDCO devices recover hydraulic energy from the high-pressure brine (concentrate) stream and return it to the feed, significantly lowering the energy required per gallon of desalinated water.

Does ForeverPure supply genuine FEDCO equipment and parts?

Yes. ForeverPure supplies and integrates genuine FEDCO energy recovery and pumping equipment; parts are available through foreverpureplace.com.
